Soundtrack - Classical World Fusion
Composed as the theme song for the video game Civilization IV and featured on Tin's album Calling All Dawns, Baba Yetu was the first piece of music composed for a video game to win a Grammy Award. Originally composed for full orchestra, choir and soloists, it was rearranged for SATB a capella choir by Tin in 2011. The text is a translation of the Lord's Prayer in Swahili.
Baba yetu, Yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, Yetu amina!
Baba yetu, Yteu uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Utupe leo chakula chetu
Tunachohitaji utusamehe
Makosa yetu, hey!
Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe
Waliotukosea usitutie
Katika majaribu, lakini
Utuokoe, na yule, muovu e milele!
Ufalme wako ufike utakalo
Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni. Amina.
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not
into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
