In 2024, Elektra expanded its embrace to welcome all adult Treble voices, celebrating a diverse and gender-inclusive community of singers. Cassie Luftspring was appointed as Elektra’s new Artistic Director in 2025 following Morna Edmundson’s departure at the end of the choir’s 38th season. Cassie brings her unique vision and expertise to lead Elektra into an exciting new chapter. Elektra is known for its brilliant programming and multidisciplinary initiatives, with collaborative artist Dr. Stephen Smith playing a pivotal role in their spellbinding performances. Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson. The joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sami people in northern Scandinavia. Each joik is meant to reflect a person or place. This does not mean that it is a song about the person or place, but that the joiker is attempting to transfer "the essence" of that person or place into song—one joiks their friend, not about their friend. This joik is the essence of a young boy's dream of riding through the snow on the back of a reindeer.  less
