music Matters Inclusive Community Choirs was established by our musical Director, Gráinne O'Grady in April 2012 Our motto is: "One Choir, One Community, No Divides, ALL Abilities" The aim of music Matters and our inclusiv...  moremusic Matters Inclusive Community Choirs was established by our musical Director, Gráinne O'Grady in April 2012 Our motto is: "One Choir, One Community, No Divides, ALL Abilities" The aim of music Matters and our inclusive community choir projects is to unite all of our members through the universal language of music - regardless of previous musical experience, ability, language, socio-economic status or other barriers which may prevent our members from being able to fully participate in other musical groups. Our choral projects include: inclusive community choirs for people with and without disabilities, choirs specifically for adults with intellectual disabilities, and choirs for older people, with a particular focus on those with dementia and memory loss. Singers in this ensemble demonstrate a high level of commitment to choral singing and to sharing this art with audiences at home and around the world. The Chamber Choir forms the core of Cantilon’s touring and recording program and participates in many exciting and unique activities throughout the year. The Chamber Choir performs locally in concert at least four times per season, and competes in music festivals at local, provincial and national levels. The Chamber Choir generally follows a three-year touring cycle: a regional tour in year one, national tour in year two, and an international tour every third year. In addition to its regular concert series, the Chamber Choir is often invited to perform with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Pro Coro Canada, Edmonton Opera and the Richard Eaton Singers.  less

During it's 90 years it has flourished and built up an enviable record of success...  more The Cwmbach Choir was formed in 1921, and has survived to the present day even though it was severely tested by periods of hardship, depression and the Second world War. During it's 90 years it has flourished and built up an enviable record of success in competitions and concert performances. its success in competition,particularly eisteddfodau, was established in its early days. The first taste of success was second prize at Treorchy in 1928, followed by Cardiff in 1938 and Ebbw Vale in 1958. The first prize was ultimately achieved at Port Talbot in 1966 and repeated in 1968 at Barry.
