During this time they have developed a reputation for their commitment to the highest level of musicality. Comprising some of the finest young singers in the country, members of the choir are all alumni of the Eton Choral Courses. Conducted by their founder Ralph Allwood, the sound of the choir is a reflection of their profound sensitivity to text, blend and phrasing. They use imaginative programming, and have become known for their innovative and exciting performances and their extensive array of recordings. The most recent addition to this catalogue will be released in November 2013, and features works by Paul Mealor and Benjamin Britten. First and foremost, its name is closely associated with its first conductor Artūrs Bobkovics (1885-1959), who already then had become "the king of Latvian symphonic music". He organized the concerts of symphonic music and helped promote them. for the first time, the choir came together in the evening of October 18, when about 90 students gathered at Riga Secondary School No 2. The testing of voices was not very strict, and of the entire enthusiastic crowd only one student was rejected. Then, for a month, rehearsals were held, in which the voices of would-be singers were trained and made to keep in tune. After that another testing was held. This time the competition was much stricter, and only 40 singers were selected.
