Composed of about forty members, our group p...  moreOur association is situated in Saint-Martin-Vésubie, in the heart of the National Park of the Mercantour, in the southern Alps, north of Nice in the south-east of France, 50km from the seaside (Côte d’Azur). Composed of about forty members, our group presents itself either as a women’s choir, or a men’s choir or mixed choir. Our repertoire is varied and original : Renaissance, classical, traditional or more contemporary rhythms such as jazz, afro-latino, or contemporary songs. We celebrated in 2015 the thirtieth birthday of our association which has a long experience in exchange and sharing around choir singing. We have organized several festivals, masterclasses and various exchanges and thus contributed to the promotion of our region, the «département des Alpes-Maritimes» and to the development of choral singing (see examples below). During choir recruiting there was no audition, skills assessment or notes reading required. Positive energy and desire to sing was all that mattered. Conductor Ewa Robak, PhD agreed to lead this unusually formed group. Her professionalism helped overcome doubts and proved that amateur singing can astonish both performers and their listeners. The choir itself is composed of students, staff, faculty, and members of the Twin Cities community. Over the years, the choir’s repertoire has included performances of: Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, The Requiems of Brahms and Mozart, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and others. Auditions held every August and January.  

The Capital Hearings are a mixed a cappella vocal ensemble based in Washington, DC. We perform a wide variety of music including classical favorites, jazz standards and contemporary pop arrangements.
