About Us: Our association is situated in Saint-Martin-Vésubie, in the heart of the National Park of the Mercantour, in the southern Alps, north of Nice in the south-east of France, 50km from the seaside (Côte d’Azur).
Composed of about forty members,... moreOur association is situated in Saint-Martin-Vésubie, in the heart of the National Park of the Mercantour, in the southern Alps, north of Nice in the south-east of France, 50km from the seaside (Côte d’Azur).
Composed of about forty members, our group presents itself either as a women’s choir, or a men’s choir or mixed choir. Our repertoire is varied and original : Renaissance, classical, traditional or more contemporary rhythms such as jazz, afro-latino, or contemporary songs.
We celebrated in 2015 the thirtieth birthday of our association which has a long experience in exchange and sharing around choir singing. We have organized several festivals, masterclasses and various exchanges and thus contributed to the promotion of our region, the «département des Alpes-Maritimes» and to the development of choral singing (see examples below).
Over the past four years, The Mercantour Choirs (Les Choeurs du Mercantour) have had a particularly rich activity and have participated in important national and international events:
• They have sung the mass «The Armed Man» of Karl Jenkins with the Philarmonic Orchestra of Nice.
• Trip to Sicily, where they have taken part in the «Rassegna Voci dal Mondo» in Augusta.
• Tour in Portugal where, among other concerts, they have taken part in the «Festival de Coros de Lagos».
• Tour in Greece where they gave two very popular concerts:
- First in Thessaloniki in the auditorium of the French Institute of the French Consulate under the patronage of Mr. Philippe Ray, Consul General,
- Then in Kavala as part of Kavala's «Friends of Arts and Letters Encounters».
• More recently, women's and men's trainings have gone separately:
- The women's choir has moved to Sardinia as part of the «Sagra del Torrone di Tonara».
- The men's choir went on a trip to the French Alps with three concerts at the Bourg d'Oisans, Annecy and Grenoble.
We have also been invited to sing in concerts in many parts of France and in various countries: Italy (Piémont, Ligurie, Frioul, Sardaigne, Sicilia), Portugal, Spain, Greece Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Venezuela.
We have, among others, worked and exchanged with renowned directors and choirs of international level such as:
• Bepi De Marzi and the Crodaioli [Italy / Vicenza],
• Mauro Pedrotti and Coro della SAT [Italy / Trento],
• Marco Maiero and Vos de mont [Italy / Udine],
• Italo Montiglio and Coro Lorenzo Perosi [Italy / Fiumicello],
• Elio Guglieri and Coro Mongioje [Italy / Imperia],
• Edgar Quiñonez and Coral Danac [Venezuela / Barquisimeto],
• Francisco Zapata Bello and Entre Voces [Venezuela / Caracas],
• Ambroise Kua Nzambi and Choeur La Grâce [R.D.Congo / Kinshasa],
• Svetla Karadjova and Slavei Quartet [Bulgaria / Sophia],
• Gérard Gambus and Trio Esperança [Brazil]…
