The Seagrave Singers are an award winning all-female choir. It is our aim to bring enjoyment to others and ourselves by delivering a high quality performance. We present our own concerts bi-annually and organise concerts to assist with fundraising.

The choir represented Singapore at the 2018 World Choir Games in Tshwane, South Africa, and brought home a gold and a silver medal in separate categories. In 2017, TGS emerged champion for the chamber category in the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition. Under the leadership of music director, Adyll Hardy, TGS has performed full-length concerts at the Esplanade Recital Studio, Victoria Concert Hall, SOTA Concert Hall and YST Conservatory Concert Hall. For its fifth anniversary, the choir launched its debut EP, now available on Spotify and iTunes. The choir’s international footprints include being the first Singaporean choir to be part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York’s Concert Series, Messiah…Refreshed! The choir has a reputation for outstanding singing and enthusiastic engagement with its audiences. Its repertoire is wide, ranging from renaissance motets to contemporary choral pieces.

Named after Lady Margaret Beaufort who founded St John’s College, Cambridge, the choir cultivated a powerful and expressive sound combined with a clear, committed delivery of text. The membership comprises Singers from across the UK embarking upon the early stages of their careers. Amongst its seminal projects were performances of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words From The Cross and Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil. It is also hugely passionate about investing in the future of choral music and has regularly commissioned new works from young composers such as Piers Kennedy (April & Nunc Dimittis) and Owain Park (For The Fallen). In 2018, The Beaufort Singers and Joseph Wicks founded the Boxgrove Choral Festival which gave the choir its new home. After its enforced cancellation last year, 2021 saw the Festival’s return and its presentation online for the first time.  less

In addition we are frequently asked to sing at local events, weddings and celebrations. The Society was started in 1960, under our founder Gerald Brown, and we are still going strong. We are now led by James Gallagher, who has been working with us since 2009. We invite local young soloists and professionals to perform with us. Our repertoire ranges from 16th Century works to those of living composers and covers both major serious and popular works. We have fun as we build friendships with Singers from many schools, sing a wide variety of music and bring joy to the community. We are ideal for Singers who want more singing in their life! We are proud of our alumni singing at NOVA, NYU, JMU, UNT, Bridgewater, Longwood & Westchester.

Formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New Glasgow Singers, a small group of passionate choral Singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the choral repertoire, it has grown into an organisation that has around 100 members singing a wide range of musical genres but still with the core wish to seek out and perform the less familiar pieces. We perform a regular series of concerts each year: the details for the current season can be seen here. The range of music includes serious classical works, programmes of choral classics, West End musical pieces and the lighter popular music included in our annual Christmas Cracker concert. Our full repertoire can be seen in our list of past concerts. Some notable highlights have been Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Grande Messe des Morts and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony - the Symphony of a Thousand.  less
