LaTUCS (La Trobe Uni Choral Society) is a non-auditioned choir open to all La Trobe students and staff (and other interested members of the community). We rehearse at the Bundoora campus of La Trobe University, Victoria, Australia on Wednesday Nights from... onclick="$(this).getParent().getNext().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">moreone;">LaTUCS (La Trobe Uni Choral Society) is a non-auditioned choir open to all La Trobe students and staff (and other interested members of the community). We rehearse at the Bundoora campus of La Trobe University, Victoria, Australia on Wednesday Nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Our objectives are to rehearse and perform choral music, to participate in InterVarsity Choral Festivals and to do whatever else seems relevant. The Society is a non-auditioned choir, but it has been suggested that we could have a small, auditioned group within the society (perhaps called "Graduate Singers" or such like). Another possibility is that we could sing at graduation ceremonies in Union Hall. Another possibility is a joint concert with another UCS. And what sort of music should we sing? Madrigals? We rehearse on Thursday Nights at St Pauls Church Hall, Locarno Road (off Torquay Road), Preston, Paignton starting at 7.30pm until 9.30pm. We rehearse on Thursday Nights at St Pauls Church Hall, Locarno Road (off Torquay Road), Preston, Paignton starting at 7.30pm until 9.30pm. Over the years the Choir has sung with many leading amateur and professional orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, the Bristol Symphony, the Bands of HM Grenadier Guards, Household Cavalry and Royal Marine Commandos, Lympstone. Nearly all the historical oratorios, cantatas and choral works have been performed at concerts as well as 20th century compositions. The Choir has visited France four times including the Quimper Music Festival, has hosted choirs from Holland, France and the USA and created links with societies in Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire and North Yorkshire.
