An Afternoon of Song & Story

  • Afternoon of Song & Story

Renowned international baritone Nathan De'Shon Myers joins the Carolyn Eynon Singers for an intimate Black History Month celebration with wine, conversation, and song. An artist whose career bridges opera, jazz, gospel, Broadway, and choral music, Myers has collaborated with artists from Kirk Franklin to Kristin Chenoweth, contributed his voice to Grammy-winning recordings and film soundtracks including Hidden Figures, and performed with major opera houses in the U.S. and Europe. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Voice and Conductor of the Gospel Choir at ASU, where he works to shape the next generation of singers.

Hosted by the Carolyn Eynon Singers, the afternoon features shared performances highlighting repertoire deeply rooted in the Black American musical tradition, followed by wine and a relaxed onstage conversation with Myers. He will reflect on his musical journey and the cultural lineage connecting spirituals, gospel, jazz, Broadway, and opera, offering personal insight into the music and its enduring influence.

Held at the stunning Steinway & Sons showroom in Scottsdale, this special event is a fundraiser in support of the Carolyn Eynon Singers as they prepare for their 20th anniversary season, including an auction to benefit the choir’s artistic work and community outreach.
