In May, The choir travelLed to Italy to take part in The “Venezia in Musica” International Choral Competition. They won first prize in The secular music category, came runners up in The sacred music category, and received The “Outstanding Performance” prize for Bogorditsye Dyevo By Rachmaninov. They have been awarded “Choir of The Day” at all five BBC Radio 3 Choir of The Year regional rounds They have entered, and in 2008 reached The adult category finals in The Royal Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, alongside The six oTher best adult choirs in The country. The success of this project Led to a charity perfo...  morePatrick McCarthy founded The Colchester Bach Choir in November 1992 when he agreed to train a choir to perform a baroque programme with Frederick Marshall and The Lavenham Sinfonia in Long Melford Church. The success of this project Led to a charity performance of Messiah co-directed By Patrick and Peter Holman at The Swinburne Hall, Colchester Institute, which was part broadcast By Classic FM. Since Then The choir has presented three or four concerts each season in Colchester (usually at St. Botolph's Church), often featuring baroque music.
