We began with the singular purpose of ministry and spreading the gospel. ​Since incorporation, NGGC now operates under two mandate objectives: to develop the professional and musical skills of young adults 20-30 years of age; and to bring gospel music as a respected genre of music, along with its more evolved counterparts (Jazz and Classical music), in Canada. Gospel Music has served vitally in the development of all members who have joined NGGC. Our unique incorporation, interpretation, and delivery of this embodied form of art, has garnered multiple forms of support — like spectators; organizations; donors; and sponsors alike — granting us the ability to develop both the musical and professional skills of our members in tandem.  less

Since our first concert in 1995, Orpheus has presented a multi-concert subscription series each year to great critical acclaim. Orpheus has performed throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area at venues including the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Kimbell Museum of Art, UT-Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center-Dallas, and numerous public schools. Collaborations over its 30-year history have included Ars Lyrica Houston, Gramophone Award-winning Baroque scholar John Butt, Texas Camerata, jazz pianist Eric Barnes, hand drummer and international percussionist Jamal Mohamed, tanpura player Vatsal Dave, and many other outstanding instrumentalists. With members graduated from Hong Kong Traditional schools like Diocesan Boys’ School, Belilios Public School, St. Paul’s Coeducation College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, St. Paul’s College, Wah Yan College Kowloon, and also universities like the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University, the group was immediately invited by the HKSAR government to a celebration performance in early July 2010. The group also presented a standard professional program of sacred music in its first concert “Inspiratio” in August 2010, and a themed concert, featuring a range of masterpieces of Chinese Choral music,「聲．華」in August 2011, which won critical acclaim from local music conductors, composers and musicians.
