The Ensemble performs with Jon Washburn and the Vancouver Chamber Choir on three or four concert programmes ...  morePacifica Singers is a Select vocal Ensemble, now anticipating its fourth season, which exists as part of the Vancouver Chamber Choir organization. The Ensemble performs with Jon Washburn and the Vancouver Chamber Choir on three or four concert programmes each season and also presents one or two independent concerts with its own conductor. Pacifica Singers provides an ideal performance venue for experienced and motivated choral Singers whose goal is to make music at a very high level. By providing direct exposure to the world of professional music making, it is an experience of great value for Singers intending to make a career in music. Current members live throughout the lower mainland, with many serving as conductors, music educators, and/or professional Singers in their communities.  less

The Ensemble has been in residence at The Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch since 2003. Polyhymnia's Singers are drawn from many sources, including some of the finest church choirs in New York Since 2000, director John Bradley has been creating original editions of music for the Ensemble, some of it secreted in manuscript collections since the 16th century. Working in concert with libraries, liturgical historians and institutions, Polyhymnia hopes to both preserve and reintroduce choral masterworks of the Renaissance and early Baroque in ways that both entertain and elucidate. In addition to the concert series, the Ensemble's unique relationship with Saint Ignatius of Antioch, a forerunner in the preservation of historical liturgy, provides opportunities to perform Renaissance and Baroque music in a liturgical context, while fostering musical ...    less

With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this Ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This Ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities. These Singers represent a variety of majors and the general population of the University’s student body. They made their Carnegie Hall debut on Easter Sunday in 2012 with the New England Chamber Orchestra, and have performed for various state and divisional ACDA and NAfME conferences. The MSU Singers made their European debut in Paris and Normandy during the summer of 2014 and performed 8 concerts to acclaim during the summer of 2016 in Austria and The Czech Republic. In December of 2016 the MSU Singers were invited and performed at the White House in Washington D.C.  less

While the majority of the Singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at the university through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of the last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around the country: the Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; the Music Educators National Convention; the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and the ACDA Eastern Division Convention. The choir is renowned on the international stage as well, representing the US at competitions and festivals around the world.
