Composed of about forty members, our group presents itself either as a women’s choir, or a men’s choir or mixed choir. Our repertoire is varied and original : Renaissance, classical, traditional or more contemporary rhythms such as jazz, afro-latino, or contemporary songs. We celebrated in 2015 the thirtieth birthday of our association which has a long experience in exchange and sharing around choir singing. We have organized several festivals, masterclasses and various exchanges and thus contributed to the promotion of our region, the «département des Alpes-Maritimes» and to the development of choral singing (see examples below). Over the past four years, The Mercantour Choirs (Les Choeurs du Mercantour) have had a particularly rich activity and have participated in important national and internation...    less

The song is there described as "a comic song" written and composed by James Yorkston (of Scotland) and arranged by Edmund Forman. Because it is noted as printed with permission of an Edinburgh firm, there was clearly an earlier version. Although the song is the unofficial anthem of Dublin and generally regarded as Irish, it was, in fact, written by a Scotsman. This outdoor performance was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. Usually eight songs are learnt in six two-hour sessions and in the summer are performed outdoors near Ipswich. http://chrisrowbury.com  less

There were nuts and cloves and berries but the crust it was stuck on with glue. There were caraway seeds in abundance, It would give yer a fine stomach ache 'Twould kill any man twice to be eatin' A slice of Mrs Hooligan's Christmas cake. As I sat in me window last evenin' A letterman came unto me. He'd a nice little neat invitation Sayin' "Won't you come over to tea?" I knew it was Hooligan sent it So I went for our friendship's sake And the first thing he gave me to tackle Was a slice of Mrs. Hooligan's cake.  less

God of Providence, You who have never failed us, Be blessed now and always. You created all things with an eternal love, For our greater good You gave them to us; The bird, our brother, does not sow nor harvest; Though for him to be fed, oh Lord, You provide. A simple lily, a tiny flower, Surpasses the splendor of the great King Solomon. God of Providence, You who have never failed us, Be blessed now and always. Why must we worry of the things to come? Why so many concerns for our future? God of Providence, Master of the Universe, You give to your children more than is needed. In spite of our fears and despite our misfortunes, In our moments of joy and even in our pains, We implore You, oh Lord, God of Providence, You offer us always Your divine presence. Let us search joyfully for the Kingdom of God, For Love and Justice, for Good, for the Peace of the Lor...    less
