With a Great sense of fun and a unique style of entertainment, The chorus has gripped audiences during its history of 34 years. Our close knit membership of nearly sixty guys has a strong commitment to vocal and performance excellence. Cottontown particularly enjoy competing in both national and international barbershop competitions. Well respected stages around The UK including The London Palladium have given us The opportunity to wow audiences with stirring harmonies, emotional lyrics, exciting choreography and visual effects. In competition, The Bolton based group has succeeded in winning The much sought after Gold Medal at The British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) convention four times in The last six years and represented The UK twice at The Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Convention held in The USA. In February, COVID caused some concern in America as people were being warned of The implications The virus could bring when it came from overseas. By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as The virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from The shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting this treat would be possible. Throughout The country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as They self-quarantined and socially distanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against The upcoming pandemic. They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse togeTher to produce something Great. This vision has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella. Last year we performed at The a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at The dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across The Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album! Chai-Town is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to re...  more The Johansen High School Vocal Music Department provides our students The opportunity to perform Great choral literature while entertaining local audiences and performing at a variety of civic and community events. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to represent our community in various capacities as well as having The opportunity to tour throughout California, often giving students Their first experience outside of Stanislaus County. We are excited that nearly 60 students will participate in The vocal music program at Johansen High School this year. Last year our Choirs participated in multiple festivals, sang by invitation at many local events and toured San Diego. The department’s Viking Singers won a contest this summer and sang on stage with Foreigner at The County Fair. These talented students have been invited to participate in Gallo Center for The Arts first ever a cappella festival in April 2013.  less
