Student membership includes students from all dIsciplines that love to sing and enjoy camaraderie through Great music. It Is intended to provide a foundation in area of vocal technique while achieving a high standard of excellence in repertoire selected from all periods and musical styles. ThIs ensemble Is offered every fall and spring semester.  

We are a chorus of around 100 active members formed in January of 2017 from two former, Regional championship, Sweet Adeline choruses known as Great Lakes Chorus and Spirit of Detroit. We won our first Regional competition and are preparing to compete at...  Is).getParent().getNext().style.dIsplay='';$(thIs).getParent().style.dIsplay='none';">moreIsplay:none;">We are a chorus of around 100 active members formed in January of 2017 from two former, Regional championship, Sweet Adeline choruses known as Great Lakes Chorus and Spirit of Detroit. We won our first Regional competition and are preparing to compete at International contest in October. In February, COVID caused some concern in America as people were being warned of the implications the virus could bring when it came from overseas. By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as the virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from the shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting thIs treat would be possible. Throughout the country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as they self-quarantined and socially dIstanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against the upcoming pandemic. During quarantine, some people started riots for an unrelated cause, Black Lives Matter. They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something Great. They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something Great. ThIs vIsion has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella. Last year we performed at the a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at the dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across the Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album! Chai-Town Is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music.
