A joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sámi people (or Lapps - region stretches over four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia). This type of song can be deeply personal or spiritual in nature, often dedicated to a human being, an animal, or a landscape as a personal signature. According to music researchers, joik is one of the longest living music traditions in Europe, and is the folk music of the Sámi people. Its sound is comparable to the traditional chanting of some Native American cultures. This is from The OK Chorale's second public concert in March 2013 at St. Mary's Church, Woodbridge, Suffolk, UK.  less

The result is, for us, a new performance, different from the usual, which we share to send you our best wishes so that you can spend this difficult period serenely, despite everyThing. Our thoughts and prayers are dedicated in particular to those who fight the virus in the front line, to those who work to guarantee us the essential services, to those who are alone, to those who are sick, to those who are in despair, to those who did not make it and to those who have lost a Loved one. Let us send a message of hope for the future, raising our voices to the Lord, confident that He will listen to us and that we will soon return to embrace Him again.
