All members of Newquay Male Voice Choir, they are a rehearsed, a cappella, male chorus with a repertoire consisting of over 100 songs including Shanties, Cornish folk, 1960s classics, seasonal & sacred music. Their 4-part harmony and infectious humour has brought them popularity as their repertoire and reputation have grown. Entertaining for pleasure, they raise thousands of pounds for voluntary, charity & community groups. £1200 profit from donations and their first CD was donated to “The Cove” Cancer Centre and further donations have been made to RNLI and Cornwall Blood Bikes (who have received more than £3400 as their current charity). Live broadcasts on local radio and a recording by ‘Spotlight’ for BBC Television followed. The enthusiastic group of singers from Lucerne and its surroundings is lead by young conductor andreas Felber. molto cantabile was soon recognised by the Swiss audience thanks to their success at various competitions. In 2005 the Ensemble won the audience award as well as the special award of the jury of the Swiss Choir Competition in Glarus, while in 2007 it was awarded the 1st place at the Valiant Forum for Young Orchestras and Choirs at the Murten Classic Summer Festival. In addition, molto cantabile has taken part in several renowned international Choir competitions where it has proved to belong to the leaders of the international Choir scene. In May 2004 the Ensemble took part in the European Music Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium, where it was awarded 1st prize summa cum laude with 99/100 points. This premier female Ensemble, were the first Choir in the country to venture into the world of international choral music, and have been truly musical ambassadors to Sri Lanka. They are the only Choir to record an international album in 2004 when they were asked to record a single for a Tsunami project where Soul Sounds shared the stage with Cliff Richard, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, Russell Watson (the famed contemporary tenor), Robin and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, Steve Winwood, Boy George, Chicago and others. Dedicated to presenting inspiring and innovative programs that engage and enrich audiences, Voices of the Commonwealth has made quite an impact on the musical life of Northern Kentucky in two short years. Committed to collaboration and community involvement, Voices of the Commonwealth has partnered with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Disabled American Veterans National Headquarters, Highlands High School choral department, the Northern Kentucky Children's Ensemble, local veterans groups, churches, and musicians.  less
