Composed of about forty members, our group p...  moreOur association is situated in Saint-Martin-Vésubie, in the heart of the National Park of the Mercantour, in the southern Alps, north of Nice in the south-east of France, 50km from the seaside (Côte d’Azur). Composed of about forty members, our group presents itself either as a women’s choir, or a men’s choir or mixed choir. Our repertoire is varied and original : Renaissance, classical, traditional or more contemporary rhythms such as jazz, afro-latino, or contemporary songs. We celebrated in 2015 the thirtieth birthday of our association which has a long experience in exchange and sharing around choir singing. We have organized several festivals, masterclasses and various exchanges and thus contributed to the promotion of our region, the «département des Alpes-Maritimes» and to the development of choral singing (see exampLes below). Director, Pierre Massie, has composed many original pieces for the choir, as well as creating lively and contemporary arrangements of traditional carols. The release of their first CD Qui creavit celum, celebrated the Stairwell Carollers' 20th anniversary in 1997. In 2000 they released I Saw a Swete Semly Syght and in 2003 Mourning Dove. Their very first madrigal CD, Audite nova, was released in October of 2006 and their fourth Xmas CD Laudemus cum armonia in 2009. 2012 marked the release of their first CD of sacred songs from the Renaissance, Cantate Domino, Their fifth Xmas CD O magnum mysterium is now available for purchase. Winner of the 2010 OMFA provincial competition, they are ranked amongst the best of Canada's choirs.
