The University Chorale is the touring ensemble for the Choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of the finest Choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout the Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, there are singers representing several other academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under the direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is the Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. The Larkin Singers has had successful tours to Bristol, UK as resident choir at Bristol Cathedral and to New York City. They have also presented Concerts in Ottawa, London and Kingston. In 2008, The Larkin Singers released its first recording, "A New Work is Come on Hand" featuring music of the Christmas season by Bach, R.V. Williams, Howells, Ord and others. Now in its fourth season, The Larkin Singers presents a 3 Concert subscription series; outreach and collaborative performances throughout Ontario. The ensemble performs with Jon Washburn and the Vancouver Chamber Choir on three or four Concert programmes each season and also presents one or two independent Concerts with its own conductor. Pacifica Singers provides an ideal performance venue for experienced and motivated Choral singers whose goal is to make music at a very High level. By providing direct exposure to the world of professional music making, it is an experience of great value for singers intending to make a career in music. The Seagrave Singers are an award winning all-female choir. It is our aim to bring enjoyment to others and ourselves by delivering a High quality performance. We present our own Concerts bi-annually and organise Concerts to assist with fundraising.

Also, a virtuoso performer, who was appointed as organist of Westminster Abbey at the young age of 20, Purcell enjoyed rock-star status during his lifetime, and was dubbed the “Orpheus Britannicus”. The first half of the performance features Highlights of Purcell’s wonderful church music, including perhaps his finest anthem, My heart is inditing, composed for the coronation of King James II. Then the choir is joined by superb soloists to revel in his ground-breaking short opera Dido and Aeneas, describing the tragic love story of the Queen of Carthage and the founder of Rome, with its hauntingly lovely final aria, Dido’s Lament.
