It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. The ensemble regularly collaborates with the des Moines Symphony and sang the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. The Drake choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on the conference program of the American Choral Directors Association North Central Division.
The ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are first-year students through seniors and who represent every College of the University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during the weekend preceding the start of the fall semester. The ensemble rehearses Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. and is conducted by Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Condcuting. less

While the majority of the singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at the University through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of the last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around the country: the Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; the Music Educators National Convention; the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and the ACDA Eastern Division Convention. The choir is renowned on the international stage as well, representing the US at competitions and festivals around the world. The singers are frequently praised for the emotional spectrum in their performances, their diverse Vocal color, and their varied repertoire.

The School's choir became very successful in the mid-1980s, winning many competitions including the Llangollen Eisteddfod. When School was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing together as a choir, and the group's achievements included reaching the semi-finals of Sainsbury's choir of the Year and appearing on Opportunity Knocks.
In the 1990's, the choir moved to Harrow and officially became known as Jubilate. Sarah Stroh took over as Musical Director in 1999 and since then the choir has grown significantly, doubling in size to its current membership of 43. There are still some original members of the choir, who have been singing together for more than 25 years.
Our recent competition successes include winning the Barnardo's National choir competition in March 2013 and the ladies choir, folk and popular music classes and runner-up with distinction in the sacred music class in the 2012 Mid-Somerset Festival. We came fourth at the prestigious Interna... less

We welcome experienced SATB singers who are keen to perform music of all genres to a High standard in an informal environment.
Our ethos:
CONTEXT
Historical, social and environmental contexts of music, and the influence of these on performance, will be Central to rehearsals and concerts. They will define the themes of our repertoire each year.
COLLABORATION
Based in Leeds, the choir has numerous opportunities to collaborate with other ensembles, composers and charities to promote and support musicians throughout the North. We hope to work with a variety of musicians to develop quality and future collaboration within the choir.
COMMUNICATION
No music?! Yes, we will perform without sheet music in concerts. In doing this, we intend to submerse ourselves, and audience in the context of the music. This will enable the choir to fully communicate their interpretations of the ... less
