The Choir was initially created to unite students with a shared interest in praiSing the Lord through Song. Soon, however, the weekly choir rehearsals became not only a meeting place, but also a refuge for those looking for a non-threatening and empowering environment. Over the years, the Choir has grown to include members Of all races and Christian denominations, and celebrates not only the diversity Of its members, but also that Of its audiences.
UTGC has burst onto the international scene, while continuing to serve the greater Toronto community in local concerts and university events held throughout the year, like their community Christmas concert, and May's Gospelfest. Inclusive is the word which probably best describes Open Arts Community Choir. It features people with disabilites and those without, from every section Of the community in Northern Ireland. The age range is extensive, from seventeen to over seventy but most importantly members are united by their love Of Singing.
The choir is from Belfast Northern Ireland and is conducted by Beverley Whyte.
