We are passionate about performance, and love to sing contemporary a cappella music in four-part harmony. Our choir is committed to musical excellence, and we love to learn. Continuous education is one of the foundations of Blue Sky Harmony, and we utilise the skills and experience of each person in our ensemble. Although we have diverse backgrounds, our members thrive on working together to achieve shared goals. Founded in 2008 under the direction of Matthew Larkin, the choir is formed of professional choral scholars from the Toronto area. The Larkin Singers has had successful tours to Bristol, UK as resident choir at Bristol Cathedral and to New York City. They have also presented concerts in Ottawa, London and Kingston. In 2008, The Larkin Singers released its first recording, "A New Work is Come on Hand" featuring music of the Christmas season by Bach, R.V. Williams, Howells, Ord and others. Now in its fourth season, The Larkin Singers presents a 3 concert subscription series; outreach and collaborative performances throughout Ontario. We aim to establish a strong group of Singers who rehearse and perform regularly, predominantly a cappella choral works but sometimes with instruments and including some solo/small ensemble repertoire. We will be commissioning new works as well as exploring established repertoire and pieces by CoMA composers and associates. The group will reinforce as well as supplement the established CoMA Voices programme. Singers are expected to be confident Singers with some sight reading experience, be prepared to tackle unusual vocal techniques and unconventional pieces.
