The unique sonority of a female group of singers, usually a capella, has been widely explored throughout The history of music by many composers from all times, both male and female. Examples of such music can be found from The Middle Ages up to contemporary music; however it is not until Romanticism that works are composed specifically for female choirs. Our mission is to spread a message of respect for The natural World through music from across The globe, and we have performed at events su...  moreShakti Sings is a national choir of over 150 people who come togeTher every month to honour The earth through song. Our mission is to spread a message of respect for The natural World through music from across The globe, and we have performed at events such as Glastonbury Festival 2013 Opening Ceremony, and The United Nations World Environment Day concert in Staines and in Oxford Street, central London. We welcome men and women of all abilities, and sessions are taught by ear so no experience is needed, just a passion for singing and a love of The earth! Our Musical Director is The renowned Susie Ro Prater who has supported choirs and natural voice movement workshops for many years. Our very enjoyable choir practices take place once a month at The HyThe Centre in Egham, Staines, easily accessible by train from Central London and free parking onsite. Membership is £15 for The year and minimum £5 per member for each of our sessions. Please bring a mug for refreshments. Incredible value! Non-members ...    less
