Our repertoire is all original, written by choir members and has emerged as a new tribal choral tradition that honors death as a natural, expected, sometimes very inspiring event in a life. While we don't require auditions, our welcome process is rigorous. This kind of singing is spiritual work and is deeply rewarding for those who are called to it.

They are also the c...  moreThe Birralee Blokes are the winners of the 2012 International Kathaumixw "Choir of the World" award and also the winners of the Youth Section in the same competition, held in Canada in July. They are also the current ABC Classic FM Choir of the Year. In addition to this they were judged Youth Choir of the Year and also received the Listeners' Choice Award. In 2008 they were part of the Channel 7 Battle of the Choirs TV show, making it as far as the quarter finals, where they met their Waterloo with ABBA's song of the same name. Membership is drawn from state and independent secondary schools and universities and there is a strong emphasis placed on inclusion for any young man who enjoys singing and expresses a desire to develop as a musician. The composition is divided into two repeated Sections. In the first Section, the choral texture is homo-rhythmic and in the second Section, the voices are set into a simple counterpoint. “I Never Saw” closes on the dominant chord creating a feeling of suspension that enhances the concept of faith expressed by Dickinson.  

We are a Choir of very friendly people, with great Musical experience, a great desire to make good music, with a very wide repertoire and many concerts offered. Come meet us!!

It was founded more than 30 years ago with David Wordsworth as its Musical Director from 1995 to 2023. Our current classical Musical Director is Matthew Thomas Morgan, and our current jazz Musical Director is Jill Jarman. The group comprises two classical choirs – an auditioned Chamber Choir and a much larger non-auditioned Oratorio Choir; and two jazz choirs – an auditioned mixed Jazz Ensemble and a larger non-auditioned all-female Jazz Choir. It also offers two different singing classes to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate and the more experienced singer. The Addison Singers normally operate on three 10-week terms (the same as the schools) with a concert or recital at the end of each term.
