The Saint Louis University Glee Club of Baguio City has had a long tradition of concession in rendering the brunt of choral music. The club stages its major concerts and performances at the Center for Culture and the Arts, a theatre company located at the main campus of Saint Louis University, Baguio City.
As resident choir of Saint Louis University since 1993, members have been drenched with privileges aside from scholarship grants, free musical and theatrical training and other extra curricular privileges. The group has also embarked local tours and international vantures in the United States of America like San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles. Moreover, the group has also paved its way to China in the notable Jinan Universities namely Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzen.
The group is composed of students from the different colleges of the university who has undergone successive auditions and semestral probations. The group has set a standard of turning latent singers to potential singers.
Mrs. Normita Rio-Pablico is the trainer and mainstay of the SLU Glee Club. One of her remarkable pursuits is to claim national recognition. To name some notable features, the group has been a delegate in the WOW Philippines Best of the Regions Competition in Manila SLU garnered the second place. The achievement served as an auspice. With the recent 2005 National Music Competitions for Young Artists held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the group plunged into this more sophisticated challenge and claimed the victor title. The following year, the group was invited to perform in the NAMCYA Concert Winners at the latter venue. As it expands its expertise in the field of choral music, the group has had the very rare privilege to perform with worldmrenowned choirs like the UP Concert Chorus, Kilyawan Boy’s Choir, Manila Chamber Singers, UP Manila Chorale and the Philippine Madrigal Singers following their invitation to perform for the 2nd Manila Choral Festival last August 2008 at the Philam Life Auditorium in Manila. The Group also performed during the Philippine Choral Directors' Association's First Masterclass in Choral Conducting held at the Center for Culture and the Arts Theatre of Saint Louis University.
The group’s delight sprouted from the supportive associates who are unceasingly providing their generous thoughts and endless concerns. Collaborative efforts are the mainstream of the choir’s successes and achievements. Since the group is being propped up with kind hearted people, as reciprocation to their help. SLU Glee Club doesn’t only perform for mere entertainment and aesthetic intention but it also serves charitable purpose. The thriving value of the SLU Glee Club doesn’t end on competence and discipline, what makes the group is their sincerity of effusing musicality. It has to serve its purpose and it should claim its greatness with utmost humility. Moreover, each member is trained that discipline supersedes talent, which is really vital and evident with their craft. less - Additional names: Saint Louis University Glee Club, Baguio City
