The Choir is not only one of the actors of the...  moreCreated in 1987, the Choir has a total of about 90 Singers (mainly students, University's staff, and former students). It is conducted by Evelyne BÉCHÉ, and accompanied at the piano by Dimitri NEGRIMOVSKI. The Choir is not only one of the actors of the cultural life of the University, but also an ambassador of it in the department of Sarthe, in France and abroad. Administratively, the Choir is an association (french law 1901). The repertoire of the Choir is varied: classical music, gospel, jazz, music of the world, variety. Depending on the works, the Choir is accompanied by its regular pianist at the piano, by renowned orchestra, or by orchestra made up of professional musicians for specific events. The University Chorale is the touring ensemble for the choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of the finest choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout the Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, there are Singers representing several other academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under the direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is the Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on the music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less

Lead by a professional conductor and accompanist, Macquarie Singers usually performs two major concerts each year as well singing for residents in aged care centres and a local hospital.

The choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur...  moreThe Saskatoon Chamber Singers was founded in 1977 by a group of former Greystone Singers (University of Saskatchewan) who wanted to continue singing in a quality choral ensemble. The choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur choirs and the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia, and participated in the non-competitive Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It has also been the guest choir at Saskatchewan Sings, and sang at the installation of Lynda Haverstock (a former member) as Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2010, the choir performed at Podium, the biennial conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities, held in Saskatoon. The choir’s repertoire has been rich in variety since its establishment, and Canadian music has always been an important component of its programming.
