In 1969, parents and grandparents involved in the Columbus Maennerchor, Damenchor, and other Central Ohio German singing societies, wishing to pass on and share German culture and traditions with their children, formed the Columbus Kinderchor/Jugenchor, w...  moreIn 1969, parents and grandparents involved in the Columbus Maennerchor, Damenchor, and other Central Ohio German singing societies, wishing to pass on and share German culture and traditions with their children, formed the Columbus Kinderchor/Jugenchor, which operates as part of the Columbus Maennerchor organization. This children's chorus quickly became one of the most dynamic choruses in the city. The Kinderchor, which means "children's chorus" and the Jugendchor, which means "youth chorus", attribute their success to the dedication to the children. Membership is open to all children regardless of nationality, recognizing the shared German heritage so prevalent to Central Ohio. While our focus remains the children and the children's choral music, gatherings and trips are planned to include the entire family.
