Originally a group of university students, The choir now consists of amateur singers from all walks of life. We sing most types of choral music, and have occasionally dipped our toes into both jazz and folk repertoire.  

We are an informal community choir who sing a broad variety of songs. We meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm in The function room of The Bell Inn, in The heart of The village of Chittlehampton in North Devon.

This short, lively SATB piece is loads of fun and Highlights The quintessential ...  moreThis is an arrangement of an Acadian folksong entitled “Marie Madeleine” (more commonly classified in The French-Canadian folksong repertoire as “Une petite vache noire”). This short, lively SATB piece is loads of fun and Highlights The quintessential elements of The Acadian folksong tradition: podorythmie (seated foot-tapping), diddlage (mouth music), and The spoons. But, it also stretches The tradition to include more modern elements. Don’t be fooled by thinking this is just a simple folksong. It is a challenging and complex piece that reflects The innate musicality of this long-standing Canadian oral tradition. Though this folksong can be found in oTher parts of French Canada, I chose to feature The Acadian dialect in this rendition because it is emblematic of The role that language sometime plays in creating social inequity. The establishment of The chorus is to build a platform for The youth to promote choral music and realize Their dreams, as well as to organize different cultural exchange activities to promote music and serve The society. In The summer of 2011, HKVC held Their debut concert “Sing Out a Dream” in The Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall to raise funds to support The charitable work of The Lions Club of Central. In 2012, The chorus organized and performed five shows of a grand scale original youth choral musical “Like. So?”. The musical received positive comments and The chorus was even invited by renowned pianist Ms. Nancy Loo to an interview and performance in her RTHK 4 Radio Program “Cantilena”.
