However, he managed to leave a lot of song harmonizations and a ...  more Aghias Triados CHILDREN's CHOIR was established in 1967 by a talented young musician, Theodore Papakonstantinou (1948-1969), who had time only to install the foundations of the CHOIR. However, he managed to leave a lot of song harmonizations and a significant Mass, which is sung by the CHOIR in the Aghias Triados church of Thessaloniki. From 1969 till now, the CHOIR continues its work successfully having as its director his elder brother Vassilis Papakonstantinou, with whom it has given many concerts in more than fifty cities in Greece and aboard, as well. It has visited Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerlandn, Hungary, Czech, Bulgaria, France etc. It has won first prices and gold metals in CHOIR competitions. One of the most important parts of Aghias Triados CHILDREN's CHOIR's history is its participation with European Union Youth Orchestra and Vienna's Youth CHOIR, to the performance (Athens, 1985) of the third Symphony of Leonard Bernstein under the direction of the composer.  less

For a long time, the CHOIR existed as part of this group, performing with its dancers and orchestra, singing mostly folk music; in 1999, Valerija Skapiene, the present artistic director of the CHOIR, began working in "Ugnele", and in a few years, the CHOIR's repertoire extended to include not only folk, but also classical, jazz, world music; in 2002, during "Mes - Lietuvos vaikai" national choral competition, the CHOIR was acknowledged to have reached the level of the first category (this is the highest category of artistic level in Lithuania). Journeys around the world followed - "Ugnele" has presented Lithuanian culture in fifteen countries from the Netherlands to South Korea; in 2004, the CHOIR started a national choral festival for CHILDREN, "Dainu mozaika".
