It was the official choir of the Masaryk University in Brno between 1999 and 2003. Since then it has continued as a civic association. In 2003 Štěpán Policer took up the artistic leadership of Gaudeamus, since 2007 Dáša Karasová has been leading the choir.
The choir has been undoubtedly contributing to the advancement of Brno musical culture by giving concerts and appearing at benefit events annually. It has also been participating in choral festivals and competitions at home as well as abroad (Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia):

It includes folk and serious music of Slovenian and foreign authors of different periods. In spite of already settled ensemble the choir remains open for new singers. Musica Vocal Ensemble focuses on achieving quality vocal production, based on individual education and upbringing of singers. lessan>
