They have been auditioned and Selected from a program of 250 Singers and identified as the cream of the crop based on their beauty of vocal tone, musical intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, they are students who are DEDICATED to being the best they can be. As a result of these high standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around the nation as one of the elite high school level performing Ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at the Missouri Music Educators Convention. We are also in high demand with community groups for performances around Christmas time. Whether it’s medieval, Baroque, Renaissance, classical, Romantic or contemporary, Laudate Singers combine technical artistry with the ability to make all kinds of choral music accessible. Laudate Singers are committed champions of Canadian choral music; the choir has maintained a composer-in-residence program since 1995, and commissions and performs new Canadian works every season.  less

Singers are therefore welcome to apply at any point, since the group will be fixed from a central pool for each concert. Repertoire is wide-ranging, from Renaissance polyphony to commissions from established and emerging British composers. The group is directed by Hilary Campbell and welcomes interest from experienced and enthusiastic choral Singers of all ages.
