We are dedicated to quality performances, Music education, and community service. As the resident choral ensemble of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, we perform a varied repertoire from classics to Broadway and rock to jazz in two main concerts, one during the Christmas season and one in the spring, with additional benefit and collaborative performances throughout the year. Scheduled auditions for new members are held in August and January of each year. Our mission is to enhance the cultural and Musical life of the community and to provide an opportunity for those interested in choral Music to participate in these Musical endeavors. The group is non-auditioned and consists of Music majors as well as students from various academic areas. The Singers usually perfrom at least one major work per year. Sin...  moreWhen Fred Reinagel founded The Vail Chorale in 2011, his goal was simple: to create a non-auditioned community chorus that would provide an opportunity for choral Music-making on Tucson’s east side, welcoming singers of all ages and Musical skills. Since its inception, The Vail Chorale has been entertaining local audiences with Fall and Spring concerts that feature Musical styles for every taste. Performances have taken place at various locations including Empire and Cienega High Schools, the Arizona Senior Academy, and the Del Webb Lodge at Rancho del Lago. Chorale members have included high school students as well as adults of all ages, who have found that the intergenerational experience has added to the fun of singing together. Concert attendees have remarked at the obvious enjoyment and enthusiasm that comes across to the audience. The Vail Chorale is directed by Fred Reinagel, the Chorale’s founder. The group’s repertory is quite wide and eclectic and ranges from sacred and secular early Music to contemporary works. Besides singing some of the most important Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, by composers such as Victoria, Palestrina, Byrd, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel and Bach, the group has also premiered several contemporary pieces and made first modern auditions of many Portuguese Renaissance and Baroque works. Christopher Bochmann, Ivan Moody, Bob Chilcott, Luis Tinoco, Eurico Carrapatoso and Vasco Mendonça are some of the composers who dedicated works to Grupo Vocal Olisipo. Grupo Vocal Olisipo attended several masterclasses led by some of the world leading vocal ensembles, such as The King's Singers and the Hilliard Ensemble and was coached in the performance of Baroque Music by Jill Feldman.
