Formed in November 2005, the Choir has performed around England, Wales, parts of France and Germany. Members of the Choir also run a training Choir to train other Choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training Choir is able to travel anywhere. To da...  moreFormed in November 2005, the Choir has performed around England, Wales, parts of France and Germany. Members of the Choir also run a training Choir to train other Choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training Choir is able to travel anywhere. To date they have travelled to Cornwall, Devon, Derbyshire, Wales, France and Germany. The whole Choir is mixed, with approximately 50 singers and performs around 30 times a year. I had the honour of making the announcement on behalf of Archbishop Desmond and Mrs Leah Tutu, who have given me permission to develop the initiative around the world, in support of their own Justice, Peace and Reconciliation work. The Archbishop first heard Choir Invisible perform outside and inside the King's Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, on 11 July 2008, at a Civic Reception held in his honour. He was, quite simply, spellbound by the Choir and an immediate rapport was established. Upon his arrival at the King's Hall, the harmony of the Choir, singing a Swahili love song 'Malaika' (My Angel), caused him to stop and listen. The No 1 mixed Choir in Lithuania Founded in 2009, mixed voices Bel Canto Choir Vilnius is officially confirmed as the best volunteer Choir in Lithuania. The Choir unites more than 60 singers, who have extensive singing experience in various Choirs in Lithuania, and whose desire is to have quality leisure time and enjoy one of life’s most pleasant activities – singing. Their goal is to sing different styles of music and work with various other groups, present high quality musical projects, as well as take part in competitions and festivals in Lithuania and abroad. On December 1, 2013, Bel Canto Choir Vilnius rocked the country’s choral music scene and accomplished unthinkable. During the fourth year of its existence, the Choir won the Lithuania’s major National Choral Competition, thus becoming the best volunteer Choir in the country. Being part of the Choir requires two very important elements - dedication and commitment - and it is evident that, over the years, these have remained at the core of the Choir, demonstrating the loyalty of the Choir members not only to each other but to keeping the talent of choral singing alive and well! Excellent performances just don't happen and a lot of hard work and effort is put in at every rehearsal, however, the camaraderie, enjoyed by everyone, is also a very special part of being a Choir Member. In 2005 the local Council of the borough of North Down conferred the status of Borough Ambassador on Bangor Ladies Choir. This is the first conferment ever to an external Organisation outside of the Council Membership and the Choir were privileged and proud to accept this unique position.
