Within this organisation, there are two sister groups: NOVA, the core group of singers performing to accompaniment and the Grace Notes who sing a cappella. Rehearsals are held weekly and fundraising concerts for local charities are run each year in May and December.

Since its foundation, the choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. the choir has a mixed membership including Music teachers, Musicians and amateur choir singers. the choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. the city where the choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. In May, the choir travelled to Italy to take part in the “Venezia in Musica” International Choral Competition. they won first prize in the secular Music category, came runners up in the sacred Music category, and received the “Outstanding Performance” prize for Bogorditsye Dyevo by Rachmaninov. they have been awarded “choir of the Day” at all five BBC Radio 3 choir of the Year regional rounds they have entered, and in 2008 reached the adult category finals in the Royal Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, alongside the six other best adult choirs in the country.
