(Www.africanyouthchoir.org) This biennial project is organizing a technical course with cultural exchange during a Summer camp for two weeks in an African country. Then the choir is prepared to perform in major events in Africa, or to represent Africa in major festivals included in the global agenda of choral singing. The desire is to gather young singers from around Africa for integration through song, to enrich their cultural diversity, to to become messengers of peace on the continent and throughout the world, but also a model of multiculturalism. 40 singers from 10 african countries are selected after testing (16 to 26 years old) and work with an experienced conductor. We are inviting singers to join us for a 5-month journey of learning great music, creating valuable new relationship with others and sharing our music with others. If you love to sing, please join us. We meet every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 9pm at the Makiki Community of Christ Church at 1666 Mott Smith Dr. There is a small membership fee for participation and we promise that you will enjoy yourself. Under the guise of other names, we have been in continuous existence for over 50 years and are currently conducted by the highly experienced and talented Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith. We meet on Monday nights at Trinity Chapel, Robert Menzies College from 7.00-9.30pm during school terms. There are no auditions and everyone is welcome, regardless of musical experience.
