We sing a-cappella style Music in four-part harmony, called Barbershop. The songs we sing are varied, some old classics, some modern with a twist! In an effort to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest possible level, we compete each year in a national contest and we also perform our own annual Show to raise our profile in the community. The Girl Choir of South Florida is the premier singing ensemble for young women in the tri-county area. The Girl Choir, led by Artistic Director Wallis Peterson, has been extolled by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as “imaginative, accessible, expressive, and entertaining”, gaining a reputation for delivering compelling concert programming. The Girl Choir’s repertoire is broad, from ancient to modern, classical to popular, sacred to secular, and folk to Broadway, encompassing many cultures, faiths, and traditions. The Choir’s Musical director, Elaine Chan, is an acclaimed composer and a Musical theatre icon in Singapore. She has played a prominent role in guiding the Choir in singing its eclectic repertoire of pop, Broadway numbers, classical choral, and even African chants and gypsy wedding songs. nůmama has its beginnings as a mother and baby group in 2009, and has since grown into a Choir for all women.
