It was Mr. Bonnie Fonseka, a distinguished Old Boy, who's vision soon came to be a Benedictine tradition, by forming a musical club. This prompted The birth of The first College Choir. The Choir acquired a reputation for top class singing and in addition often invited to perform at important national events such as to perform with oTher schools when princess Elizabeth visited Ceylon in 1952. Since Mr. Bonnie Fonseka’s retirement There were many dedicated young musicians who undertook The responsibility and uphill task of training The Choir. Some of Them were Mr. Robert Joseph, Mr. Francis De Almeida, Mr. Nicholas Johnpulle, Rev Bro. Augustine and Mr. Ravein George. Mr. Ravein George revived The Choir in 1996 and guided Them to reach The height of success as being cited as a Classical Choir. The Choir won The all island singing competition in The year 1999. It was founded in 1978 by Dr. Jeffrey Unger for The sole purpose of providing quality performances of choral music written for The small ensemble. In The 32 years of its existence, NJCS has presented concerts throughout New Jersey and beyond. NJCS was chosen to represent New Jersey at The American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division convention in Baltimore in 1984 and again in Philadelphia in 1988. In June 1991, by invitation of The Bishop of Washington, D.C., NJCS performed at The National CaThedral. In December 1998, NJCS was The guest of The Orpheus Club of Philadelphia and performed in Their annual Christmas concert at The Academy of Music.
