Mission statement: To train boys in The choral art with an emphasis on music literacy and The highest artistic standards. Boys will learn life-long skills and go forth into The world as skilled tenors and basses and leaders in Their future choirs.

Patrick McCarthy founded The Colchester Bach Choir in November 1992 when he agreed to train a choir to perform a baroque programme with Frederick Marshall and The Lavenham Sinfonia in Long Melford Church. The success of this project led to a charity perfo...  morePatrick McCarthy founded The Colchester Bach Choir in November 1992 when he agreed to train a choir to perform a baroque programme with Frederick Marshall and The Lavenham Sinfonia in Long Melford Church. The success of this project led to a charity performance of Messiah co-directed by Patrick and Peter Holman at The Swinburne Hall, Colchester Institute, which was part broadcast by Classic FM. Since Then The choir has presented three or four concerts each season in Colchester (usually at St. Botolph's Church), often featuring baroque music. Many of The original members still sing with The choir, which is intended for experienced choristers (members sing with oTher choirs and some have solo careers) who can sight read well and respond to direction, thus enabling concerts to be performed with only two or three rehearsals. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Colchester-Bach-Choir/330623297057?ref=hl  less

We train togeTher in vocal and choral skills as part of every session and want to explore our own sound as well as that of our choir's. We have a strong Folk influence and a variety of pieces that keep us challenged and growing. Directed and trained by singing teacher and choir coach Sandra Smith (www.singingandbreathing.co.uk) Throughout The pandemic we kept singing and did a short but very fun Homegrown Harmony project where all singers participated in a small group piece or a solo and recorded it.
