Our aims are to achieve high standards of singing and performance, and to contribute to our local community. Our annual programme typically includes 6-8 concerts in the Harpenden area and further afield, a cathedral tour, open singing days and the occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We are known for good music making, varied repertoire including regular commissions, excellent soloists, interesting concert venues and loyal patronage of a range of local hostelries…. We come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheme for talented Singers from local schools. Over our 50 year history, the Leas have sung under 11 permanent conductors and many guests, each of whom has made a distinctive contribution to our style and repertoire. Formed in November 2005, the choir has performed around England, Wales, parts of France and Germany. Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training choir is able to travel anywhere. To da...  moreFormed in November 2005, the choir has performed around England, Wales, parts of France and Germany. Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training choir is able to travel anywhere. To date they have travelled to Cornwall, Devon, Derbyshire, Wales, France and Germany. The whole choir is mixed, with approximately 50 Singers and performs around 30 times a year. Under the tutelage of the current Philippine Madrigal Singers member, Jet Torres, the group has won in local choral competitions and has been participating in various choral festivals. Each year, the group also holds fund-raising concert activities to support its annual outreach programs.

The Ensemble performs in some of the most important music festivals in Israel, and has won first prize and a gold medal in the International Liturgic Music Competition for choirs 1996, sponsored by the Vatican. On 2001 Jerusalem A-Cappella Singers performed a world premier in Jerusalem and Italy of a Mass in Arabic by father Armando Pieruchi and in 2009 they were invited to take part in a special project for Christmas which was produced and filmed in Jerusalem by the BBC and forecasted later in England.
