"An Open World" is The first in a group of three settings of poems from Fletcher LaVallee Bartholomew's collection entitled "and The Wind: Gnostic Poems 1945 - 1979."

Solomons and Text by Thomas Clarke. This setting for Christmas represents The cold of a NorThern winter (The cruel Wind blows) although of course The actual events took place in raTher warmer climes. It also reflects much of The liturgical and popular symbolism of The Christmas season: robins, holly etc and it brings our thoughts towards The season of Easter with The blood of Good Friday.  

Las Amarillas (The Yellow Birds) represented an unpredictable and ever-changing aspect of The 'Wind' section for The Vocal Art Ensemble's fifth anniversary GODAI - Choral Music Summoning The Five Ancient Elements concerts in May 2013.

A Christmas Carol composed by Nathaniel J. S. Barnes using adapted text from a Robert Fuller Murray poem for mixed (SATB) choir with piano or harp accompaniment. This is a prototype using music software with Wind and harp settings.

An Open World, When I Land and and The Wind are three settings of poems from FletcherLaVallee Bartholomew's collection entitled "and The Wind: Gnostic Poems 1945 - 1979." Minneapolis native Fletcher Bartholomew spent most of his life in aviation, beginning with a childhood flight in a Curtis Robin in 1929. His work in aviation started with a job as an inspector in an aircraft factory. He went on to become a test pilot in World War II, serving at The South India Air Depot at Bangalore, India. He often spoke later of his experience on The ship to India and The people he met travelling around The subcontinent. He subsequently worked in aviation in Munich, Germany, and in Lima, Peru, before he concluded his career working in airport planning and management.  less
