The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination. As such, the choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less

Its aim is to provide opportunities for young singers at the early stages of performing careers, as well as for talented musicians who have chosen not to pursue careers in the music, but wish to continue singing to a high standard. They currently comprise singers from many established choirs, including Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir, Ex Cathedra, Armonico Consort, The Choir of Royal Holloway, Genesis Sixteen, Portsmouth Cathedral and York Minster. The group specialises in undiscovered or little-known British music, and in the music of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Founded in 1989 by Mr. Albert Morland to provide an opportunity for ex-members of the Wonderboom High School Choir to continue singing together after matriculating, it has since evolved to include members from a broader community that come from various backgrounds and professions (including law, accounting, nursing, teaching and IT) and are between 18 and 65 years of age. The choir has toured and performed across South Africa during the past 30 years and has an established reputation as a warm, friendly and “no-fuss” group with good choral sound who are just as comfortable performing at nursing homes and other charitable events as they are performing alongside the best choirs in the world on International stages, for instance, at the 10th World Choir Games in 2018, where they took home a silver medal (79.5%) in the champion’s category for mixed adult choirs. This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militaristic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a list of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are mistress, master, priest, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, Christians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecstatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. He fuses percussive lyrics, energetic rhythms and sometimes almost drunken modulations to capture this raucous mood.  less

En 2010 obtuvo el diploma de Bronce en la Octava Competencia Internacional de Coros de Elsenfeld, Alemania. Director: Andrés Aciar The Choir of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters - Buenos Aires University- is a grouping conformed by both students of this institution of higher education and members of the community. Their members perform this activity in vocational fashion and the great majority of them has main occupations and studies that are not related to musical activity. The Choir was formed in 1986 initially to provide a choir for Midnight Eucharist on Christmas Eve, but since then we have become an established part of the Wells Cathedral scene, and now sing 40 to 50 of the regular services throughout the year, as well as some of the festival services which include a Requiem Mass on All Soul’s Day. We are an amateur auditioned choir of 30 and strive for a high standard, so for potential members it is important to have a reasonable sight-singing ability. We rehearse regularly throughout the year on a Thursday evening. The music we perform is very varied and as well as psalms we sing a wide range of canticles, masses and anthems of all genres so “Variety is the spice of life”! There is no membership fee, as we are fortunate to be supported financially with grants from the Cathedral Chapter and the Friends of Wells Cathedral.
