However, The existence of a primary form of The Choir conducted by Agesilaos Papantoniou and Then Ioannis Kottoros in succession is traced in 1930s. Since its foundation The Choir has had an exclusive and leading position in The parish ecclesiastical music, and, like Saint Alexander’s Church, follows The eastern orthodox doctrine and comes under The Holy Metropolis of Nea Smyrni. Both The Choir and The former conductor Ioannis Kottoros have been awarded several times; recently, in 2005, They were honoured with The Golden Cross of Apostle Paul by His Beatitude The late Archbishop of AThens and all Greece, Christodoulos. Led by Mrs. Joy Clayton, The AThens Drive High School Choirs perform a range of musical pieces varying from classical to folk to pop. Our favorite composer, and The one whose pieces we most love to perform, is Eric Whitacre.

Our new Musical Director, Julian Collings joined The Choir beginning of 2019. Over The last few years The Choir has enjoyed a growing reputation for its repertoire of outstanding contemporary music alongside The established classics. TCS latest performances included The Creation of Haydn, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mass in Blue of Todd, Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle. The Choir also perform a Christmas Concert every year. Overall we perform three main Concerts a year. During its performances TCS enjoys The participation of professional soloists and orchestras and ensembles. Phil Culling is our accompanist. With past successes and imaginative programming, TCS is thriving. We are always glad to welcome new singers, regardless of age; especiallly those who enjoy Their music making. We like to rehearse and perform with our sense of humour switched on.  less

This new commission revolves around The creation of a person with endless potential. The text centres on a well-know whakatauki or proverb: Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei [Seek that which you treasure most – if you must bow your head, let it be to The loftiest of mountains] A mihi pepeha, hailing The fabrics of space and The throes of The heart, is joined by The organ – a giant celestial factory, chaotic and cacophonous, with great starry arms placing pieces into unique moulds forming The fragments of The final section of The work – a mighty invocation of The whakatauki.  less
