The group would like to promote their vast repertoire ...  moreFounded in 2001 by Cyrille Rault-Gregorio, the choir of the “Chambre Arthémys” is comprised of 18 singers chosen especially for their vocal and musical talents. These singers also perform as soloists. The group would like to promote their vast repertoire of singing ‘a cappella’ (without instruments) pieces from 16th to 21st century and their different styles. As well as being accompanied by orchestral ensembles, the choir often work with notable composers (Lucian Tuguy, Thibault Maillé, Jean-Christophe Marti…) who help to create the musical pieces. Ranging from traditional concerts to original and artistic experiences, the choir is always seeking to give value to all of the creative initiatives. In 2006, the choir collaborated with dancers from the Paris Opera House for the ballet of Stéphane Elizabé, “De l'Autre côté à l'amphithéâtre Bastille” (From the other side of the Bastille Amphitheatre). The group is one of Madagascar’s top choirs and aims for musical excellence and artistic innovation. Various performances have been given since its debut in major places around the country. ICanto’s repertoire is eighty percent a capella and the choir interpretes all genres of Classical Music, from ancient to modern as well as rearranged traditional Malagasy music. The choir is conducted by Fitah Rasendrahasina.

We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The choir works with musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all choirs however we need more singers to keep the choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move.
