The Sierra Boys choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide Musical and artistic opportunities to the boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town. We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents. The Sierra Boys choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp. It was Mr. Bonnie Fonseka, a distinguished Old Boy, who's vision soon came to be a Benedictine tradition, by forming a Musical club. This prompted the birth of the first College choir. The choir acquired a reputation for top class singing and in addition often invited to perform at important national events such as to perform with other Schools when princess Elizabeth visited Ceylon in 1952. Since Mr. Bonnie Fonseka’s retirement there were many dedicated young Musicians who undertook the responsibility and uphill task of training the choir. Some of them were Mr. Robert Joseph, Mr. Francis De Almeida, Mr. Nicholas Johnpulle, Rev Bro. Augustine and Mr. Ravein George. Mr. Ravein George revived the choir in 1996 and guided them to reach the height of success as being cited as a Classical choir. The choir won the all island singing competition in the year 1999.
