We are also aiming at focusing ...  moreEUCHO is a community choir based in Scenery Park, East London, under the leadership of Mr S Sonanze as the Director and Mr M Zenani as the Chorus Manager. Our aspiration is to take township choral singing to HIGHer a level. We are also aiming at focusing more on choral projects and concerts than competitions so that our singers enjoy singing and get compensated for engaging in the choir. Choir members are taught Theory and History of MUSIC for free.  

Peze Kafe, as performed by the Drakensberg Boys Choir on Wednesday 9 March. The piece is a Haiti Folk Song and is performed during our second half in concerts.

We are open to all singers with no auditions and previous experience of contemporary MUSIC is not needed. We work mainly, though not exclusively, from MUSIC, some of which is unconventionally notated. Most of our work is a capella and the focus is on ensemble singing. One objective is to expand the contemporary amateur vocal repertoire, which is less developed than the instrumental repertoire. We work with composers and students, commissioning works and showcasing material for use by others.  less

The aim of the Horizons Project is not simply to stimulate the creation of new South African choral MUSIC; but to stimulate the creation of a new generation of South African choral composers. There are 2 projects a year, each one focusing on a different genre of choral compositions. The Choir consists of 24 hand-picked singers. By inviting specific ‘head-hunted’ singers to join the choir and not just having open public auditions, allows us to hold an extremely HIGH level of MUSICianship, technical ability and an exclusivity that makes our sound unique.
