HomeChoir is a new way of learning music. You don’t need to be an accomplished singer to take part. HomeChoir members watch and sing along with Ben - teaching is one-way so nobody can hear us but the neighbours! - and are also invited to take part in the live text chat with Ben and with fellow singers around the world. There is a vibrant and friendly social Community among the Choir. If you can’t join in live, then you can still enjoy the music-making at any time. All our sessions remain available on YouTube after the live streams end for watching on catch-up when you can, and as often as you like. It is not necessary to be able to read music, and where scores are needed, Ben will display them on screen to help you learn. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in ...  moreComposer/pianist Ola Gjeilo joins the CWU Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director) in presenting Gjeilo's "Northern LIghts". In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his composition "Northern Lights"-- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment". The other composition to which he created an improvised accompaniment was "Ubi Caritas". He also accompanied the Choir on "The Ground", which includes CWU's resident faculty quartet -- the Kairos String Quartet.
