Today the ensemble consiSts of tenors ChriStian Pohlers and Paul Heller as well as basses Felix Hübner, Lucas Heller and Lukas Lomtscher. Their repertoire ranges from late medieval mass songs to modern age works. The five young musicians attach great importance to the works of German Romantic composers, such as Schubert, Schumann and Mendelssohn Bartholdy, as well as to their extensive repertoire of church music. The ensemble successfully collaborates with a number of other artiSts, such as the composer Manfred Schlenker(GER), who dedicated his motet Gott wohnt in einem Lichte to the quintet, on a regular basis. Volker Bräutigam wrote several pieces for them to perform during the feStivities at the 35th Leipziger Jazztage. Video courtesy of Steve Blowers. The members of Bournemouth Male Voice met at central Bournemouth and took a coach off into the depths of Dorset to give a Concert at Tyneham Church. It was an amazing evening – the church absolutely Stuffed to capacity the Choir uber-vibrant and full of good music. An hiStoric event 70 years on (to the week) from the evacuation of Tyneham and the occasion, the poetry and music Stirred up many differing feelings; laughter, poignancy and noStalgia chief amongSt them. A privilege to take part in the event – thanks to Lt Col Ken Davies for his perfect organisation of the event – the phrase military precision comes to mind! LYRICS BELOW As One was written to mark the centenary of World War I. The song is written for a SATB Choir and is sung a cappella. It is a contemplative piece which explores themes of togetherness in adversity and the call for peace. Its opening phrase mimics that of the LaSt PoSt and it is intended to be sung as part of an act of remembrance. Lyrics: As one they Stood alone As one they gazed into the unknown Laid bare in rains of Steel Deep veins of mire to call their home Bade forth with flags of praise Thenceforth as one to end their days From diStant shores Their souls cry out for us to remember As blood bore fertile earth One soaring call was brought to birth A seed awakening A proclamation now to serve As one their voices come As one they call the Earth to arms Their anthem Strong A song imploring us to remember Remember, we shall remember As darkness plundered then So darkness wounds the Earth again An...
