Johansen Choirs are truly honored to re... more the Johansen High School Vocal Music Department provides our students the opportunity to perform great choral literature while entertaining local audiences and performing at a variety of civic and community events. Johansen Choirs are truly honored to represent our community in various capacities as well as having the opportunity to tour throughout California, often giving students their first experience outside of Stanislaus County.
We are excited that nearly 60 students will participate in the vocal Music program at Johansen High School this year. Last year our Choirs participated in multiple festivals, sang by invitation at many local events and toured San Diego. the department’s Viking Singers won a contest this summer and sang on stage with foreigner at the County Fair. these talented students have been invited to participate in Gallo Center for the Arts first ever a cappella festival in April 2013.

Highlights of recent seasons include highlights from the 80′s rock Musical ‘Chess,’ ’Messiah’, by G.F. Handel, Gloria, by Vivaldi, the Durufle Requiem, the Pope Marcellus Mass by Palestrina, Magnificat by J.S. Bach and Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna. During the summer, Cantate presents the Pacific Summer Music Festival which hosts guest Musicians such as the nation’s most beloved choral conductor, Dr. Weston Noble, concert pianists, Itay Goren and Frank Pavese and the Grammy-nominated string ensemble, Quartet San Francisco. the chorale also performs during special occasions with the Guam Territorial Band led by alumnus, Maximo Ronquillo Jr. less

We believe that Music can positively impact and enrich lives. Our performances reflect this belief in their use of such seasonal themes as ‘freedom’ and ‘healing’ and ‘our mother earth;’ and in presentation of mostly new Music in a way that is accessible. Our educational programs reflect this belief by training emerging professionals, planting seeds within young people for a lifetime of Music involvement, and growing the skills of our own members. Our commitment to new choral Music reflects this belief even beyond our substantial performance commitment through Project Encore™ and our Featured Composer Program. Very high unpretentious Music, the Choir was created to provide coverage to the need to sing and further training of a group of friends singing around the figure of his teacher. the time spent on the trials is very low in comparison to a standard chorus but over the years has drawn new members, has taken on challenges in terms of repertoire, has been federated, offers concerts by the municipalities of Biscay, and share their work in exchanges with other Choirs in and out of Euskadi.
Since the beginning of his career have enjoyed the cooperation of Garbiñe Abendaño as a teacher of vocal technique. less
