They have been auditioned and selected from a program of 250 singers and identified as The cream of The crop based on Their beauty of vocal tone, musical intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, They are students who are DEDICATED to being The best They can be. As a result of These high standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around The nation as one of The elite high school level performing ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at The Missouri Music Educators Convention. Too often today, it can feel easier to unfriend, unfollow, or simply part ways with oThers when They seem unworthy of our effort. Yet to truly understand and love one anoTher requires fierce determination. It demands listening with openness raTher than tuning out in order to respond defensively. It asks us to compromise—even when that means agreeing to disagree. Ultimately, all of this is only possible if we choose to live with The will to love. Musically, I sought to capture both determination and collective unity through texture and rhythmic drive. The use of canonic writing on The text “I sing” symbolizes individual voices rising togeTher toward a shared purpose. Likewise, The primary rhythmic motive in The secondo piano part reflects The persistence and passion of The human heart—The unyielding fire that propels us forward through hardship.
