This is our first Virtual Choir, created October-December 2020 on Dharug, Eora and Kuring-gai land. After performing Ola Gjeilo's 'The Ground' in our final concert in 2019, we were preparing it again for our 'Indomitable Spirit' concert in May 2020. Then, Covid-19 arrived. Like many Choirs, we kept going online, or outdoors when permitted. This film is a record of our year, made to remind ourselves that joy and connection are still available to us, despite distance and change. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The Choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other Choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. The Choir features regularly in Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  less

The group named DEKOR Chamber Choir is composed of experienced choral singers from various parts of Slovenia, who in the past used to sing in renowned Slovene and some foreign vocal ensembles. Driven by the desire of thorough preparation of quality choral projects, the Choir works under the leadership of Slovene and foreign guest conductors. The Choir prepared their inaugural concert, entitled In the Beginning, in cooperation with young Finnish conductor Dani Juris The topic of creation coincided not only with the central composition of the concert, Copland’s In the Beginning, but also with the Choir’s first public appearance and presentation of the concept of their work. Among the carefully selected works by Slovene and other authors, three were performed in Slovenia for the first time: Aaron Copland’s In the Beginning, Cyrillus Kreek’s Onnis on inimene (Blessed be the Man) and Ole Gjeilo’s Unicornis captivatur (Captured Unicorn). We recommend listening on a smartphone with headphones via the YouTube app! Then the immersive impressions are the best :) After the last premiere of the You Raise Me Up recording, the Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology worked intensively on the next choral song. This time we went a step further – we created a truly Virtual Choir in the Virtual cathedral. The recording was made in 360° technology, which means that we can listen and watch both sound and image in the full sphere. To capture the full effect, it's best to listen to this presentation in headphones on your smartphone. You can then feel like inside the old temple surrounded by sound from everywhere.  less
